Okay, so you need a website for your business, app, an idea you had, or just for yourself.
This is how to build one:
These are the quick instructions. For a more thorough walkthrough, feel free to check out the detailed guide I put together.
Step 1: Buy A Domain & Hosting
There a bunch of options but my favorite is SiteGround.
Step 2: Install WordPress & Basic Settings
WordPress is a free builder and you can use it to easily built anything.
Step 3: Customization
WordPress has both paid and also free apps like Elementor that let you customize your website.
Step 4: Set It Up For Your Needs
Decide how you want to use your site—selling, booking, blogging, or anything else—and shape it around that.
Why I Recommend This Way Over Most Website Builders
Setting up a website this way is different, but it’s the only way to fully own and control your website
A lot of platforms seem easier at first, but they tend to add costs as you grow—charging more when you want to sell more, add features, or make your site your own. But with a self-hosted site, you’re starting with full control and no ceiling.
With a self-hosted website, you make one simple investment: around $60 for the year. After that, you have full control. No hidden upgrade fees, no limits on how you design or what you offer.
You’re not locked into someone else’s system. You can:
- Customize however you want
- Use any tool, plugin, or feature
- Own your site and your data completely
So yeah, it takes a few extra steps upfront. But it’s worth it—because this time, you actually own what you’re building.
I’m here to help you.
It’s not hard—this is exactly how I build my websites.
I break down the tools and how to use them, plus the things I learn along the way, in my content.
