2. Purchasing Hosting and connecting your domain.

Once you have successfully purchased your domain, buying a hosting plan and connecting the two is the next step to create a custom email address. Siteground hosting plans are affordable, reliable, and just as easy to start as in the last step.

Now that you have your domain and a hosting plan, you’re already more than halfway there to create a custom email address. Before we move, however, we have to ensure that your domain can communicate with your hosting plan.

To do this, login into your Siteground Dashboard.

Websites > New Website > Existing Domain

Type in the website address you purchased from Namecheap and follow the steps on the screen. You can skip steps 2 and 3 unless you plan on having a website. Once you finish, you’ll be given your new DNS name to use on Namecheap.

Domain List > Manage your domain > NAMESERVERS.

Click on the current DNS field, and in the drop-down, select custom DNS.

Type in the two DNS names you got from Siteground into each field and click the green check to confirm your changes, and that’s it.

3. Creating the email account & accessing your email account

The next step is creating your actual email account, which can be ( (, etc. With Siteground, you can have multiple email accounts for your domain on your hosting plan.

As I mentioned, log into your Siteground Dashboard, select your website, and then the email accounts settings. You’ll see the create an email account option, where you’ll choose the email you want to use and the password.

Now comes the time to use your email account. This is probably the most technical part of creating a custom email account; thankfully, you have a few different options, each a little easier, allowing you to choose what works better.


The first option is using Webmail. This built-in email operating system is connected to your email as soon as you create your email account. To use it, select the email account you want to use, click the three dots, and log in to Webmail. This is the easiest way to access your email. However, it requires you to log into your Siteground dashboard whenever you want to access your email.

On your phone or computer

Another option is to add the email you’d like to use directly to your phone or computer. Start as same as before, selecting the email you want to use, click three dots and click mail configuration. On the first screen, you’ll see autoconfiguration choose the device you want to use. Next, click on Generate, download, launch the auto-config file, and follow the instructions in your email client.

Using it with your current email account

The last and final option is adding your new email account to an already existing email, such as Gmail. This allows you to be comfortable accessing and using your email on a platform you’re already familiar with.

To get started, follow the same steps as before. Select the email you want to use, click three dots, and click mail configuration. This time select manual format. 

Open your Gmail account, click on the gear in the top right corner, and select “Settings.”

Navigate to the “Accounts and Import” tab at the top. Then click “Add a mail account.”

This will open a new window where you can enter the email address you just created; Enter the information you got from the manual configuration from Siteground you do not need to add POP server information. Once completed, click “Add Account.”
